Legit Italian…in Moore, OKLAHOMA!

It is fascinating to know the history of one of the most famous cuisines in the world: Italian cuisines. It is therefore difficult to believe that just a century and a half ago it was considered exotic, overburdened, and cheap; even being belittled in some regions of the United States according to National Geographic’s Tracie McMillan. Fortunately, the time has moved in a different direction and brought us to the cozy Oliveto Italian Bistro in Moore, Ok.

.

According to the Oklahoma Historical Society, during the second half of the 19th century, about four million Italians came to the United States to work in the southern mines, now, specifically in Oklahoma, there was a major settlement at the beginning of the 20th century, which resulted in our Little Italy, although it is worth mentioning that even outside it, the Italian spirit and season are very present in all corners of the state.

.

With this fact at hand, it sounds quite logical that Italian cuisine has become an important component of American gastronomic culture, starting with the beloved Mac & Cheese, pasta and pizza until you reached Italian haute cuisine that earned an important place in the United States restaurant industry towards the end of the twentieth century.

.

Fast forward to now, here we are at Oliveto, where we had the pleasure of trying:

.

Cobb Salad
Meat frying pan
Sonoma Turkey Panini
Alfredo pasta with shrimp
Squid

.

From the presentation of the dishes to the freshness of its ingredients, everything proved splendid for our palates. It is always a point in favor of the diner’s experience to know that each dish has been prepared at the moment and not simply taken out of the freezer and microwaved. On the other hand, the prices are quite affordable without becoming too cheap or properly expensive. To resume, Oliveto is a I-WANT-TO-BECOME-A-REGULAR type of place. Go check it out! Latino-Approved!
